Though not as arresting as his portrait of Rastrelli (see ImageBase) or as delightful as his large group of portraits of young women, this likeness of the Empress Elizaveta Petrovna nevertheless exhibits some of those pictorial qualities which endeared Rotari to the Russian aristocracy.
