Maximov, V. M. "Blind Host". 1884

Notes: The Blind Host The nobility of spirit often manifest in the peasant is captured in this canvas by Maximov. Though its subject is touching, the work does not sacrifice refinement and painterly craft to sentiment. In this sense, the composition owes much to the examples of earlier artists such as Venetsianov (see ImageBase).
