Ilya Repin and Alexander Glazunov, one of the most famous nineteenth-century Russian composers, would meet at musical evenings organized by Vladimir Stasov (see his portrait by Repin in this ImageBase) and Mitrofan Beliaev, who commissioned this portrait. Glazunov dedicated his "Oriental Rhapsody" of 1889 to Repin.
