Korzhev (Korzhev-Chuvelev), G. M. "Conversation". 1980 - 1985

Notes: Conversation. The works of Gery Korzhev are often filled with intense emotion and drama. The two subjects of this particular composition, "Conversation" (1980-85), have been identified as Lenin and an aged, wise gentleman, almost iconic in his dignity. This bearded elder clearly represents the traditional ancients of the Russian nation. Together Lenin and the aged figure create an earnest, masculine pair, who seek to create a new Russia by bringing together the wisdom of the past and the innovation of the new government. Certainly a sentimental piece of propaganda, this work is a well-executed example of late Soviet narrative painting.
