Malevich, K. S. "Landscape with Five Houses". 1928 - 1932

Notes: Landscape with Five Houses. These faceless structures, like the faceless people featured in Malevich's figurative paintings of this period, are images of desperation and defeat. Rather than resorting to journalistic illustration in order to convey the visible effects of famine and death, the artist uses the principles of abstract painting to communicate the psychological impact of these catastrophic conditions.
