Malevich, K. S. "Prototype of a New Image". 1928 - 1932

Notes: Prototype of a New Image "Prototype of a New Image" is one of the most geometrically simplified figures of Malevich's Second Peasant Series (1928-1932). In their highly schematized and abbreviated forms, these figures are closely related to his earlier Suprematist works. They do not communicate the tragic emptiness of his bearded and isolated peasants of the same period (see "A Complex Presentiment" and "Two Male Figures" in this ImageBase for comparisons). However, Malevich was probably attempting to continue his aesthetic experiments and at the same time pay homage to this group of people. It was a personal struggle of great poignancy set against a national struggle with life and death consequences.
