Malevich, K. S. "Peasant in the Field". 1928 - 1932

Notes: Peasant in the Field. This representation of a peasant stands against a richly colored patchwork of crops. Unlike many other images from this series, the head of the figure has abbreviated features. This painting is also one of the most potently colored of the Malevich's "Second Peasant Series" (1928-1932), and seems to be as much a prayer for agricultural success, in the midst of famine, as it is a celebration of the power of color to evoke feeling.
