Malevich, K. S. "Boy". 1928 - 1932

Notes: Boy. "Boy" of 1928-1932 recalls the adult female figure of Marfa [see "At the Harvest" (Marfa and Vanka) in this ImageBase]. These paintings are excellent examples of Malevich's "Peasant Series" of the late 1920s and early 1930s, which were created in response to the famine that swept Russia during this period. Their colors and decorative style recall both icon painting and peasant art, sources well suited to their subjects.
