Like Brodsky's 1930 work titled "Demonstration," (see ImageBase), the bird's eye viewpoint of Osmerkin's earlier and less ambitious "Tverskaya Street in Moscow" owes much to late nineteenth-century painting. Certain works by Gustave Caillebotte, Claude Monet, and Camille Pissarro offer possible antecedents.
