"Procopius the Pious Praying". 1914
Notes: Procopius the Pious Praying for Those Unknown in the Sea.
Procopius the Pious' devotion to his city, Veliky Usyug, earned him a place in Russian folklore and history. In Nikolai Rerikh's work, "Procopius the Pious Praying for the Unknown Sailors" (1914), the sage sits high on a bank, praying for the traveling boats that pass by on the river, following the tradition of ancient Russian Orthodoxy.
